Can my AI clean up old notifications and newsletters?

Yes. After you turn cleanup on, your AI can archive repeat notifications, calendar replies older than 5 days, shipping updates for delivered orders, and unread newsletters older than 14 days, with one undo for the whole run. It never touches mail from a person, VIPs, or starred mail.

Last updated

What does cleanup archive?

  • Repeat automated notifications. The newest one stays.
  • Calendar replies (Accepted, Declined, Tentative) older than 5 days. Invitations are never touched.
  • Shipping updates once the order is delivered. The Delivered email stays.
  • Unread newsletters older than 14 days. You can change this up to 90 days, and 0 turns it off.

Cleanup only archives. Nothing is trashed, and the whole run has one undo.

What does it never touch?

VIP, starred, snoozed, or suspicious mail, mail from a person, anything waiting on your reply, and threads you already replied to.

How do I turn it on?

  1. Ask your AI to show your inbox, and open the VIPs & rules tab.
  2. Under Cleanup, tick Archive duplicate notifications and old calendar replies automatically.
  3. Optionally set Archive unread newsletters older than (days, 0 is off) and choose Save.

If your app does not show the inbox view, say "turn on cleanup" or "set newsletter cleanup to 30 days."

Until cleanup is on, asking for a cleanup only lists what it would archive.

Does it run by itself?

No. Inbox Triage does not run cleanup on a timer. It runs when your AI runs it, so ask "clean up my inbox", or add it to a scheduled routine in your AI app. See How do I get a daily email brief from my AI?

One run archives up to 50 messages. If it would move more than 25, you see a preview first and nothing moves until you agree.
