Use Inbox Triage with ChatGPT

Yes, ChatGPT can work with your email through Inbox Triage, including more than one Gmail account. You add it once, on chatgpt.com in a browser, not from inside a chat. Open Settings, then Apps (older accounts say Apps and Connectors), then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode. Back on Apps, choose Create, name it Inbox Triage, paste https://getinboxtriage.com/mcp as the MCP server URL, pick OAuth, tick I trust this application, choose Create, then sign in to Inbox Triage and choose Allow.

Add the connector

You do this once, in a browser at chatgpt.com. ChatGPT cannot add a connector from inside a chat, and the phone app does not have these settings. Developer mode needs a Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu plan.

  1. Click your name or picture in the bottom left corner, then Settings.
  2. Open Apps. Some accounts call it Apps and Connectors or Connectors.
  3. Scroll down to Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode. A Business or Enterprise workspace admin may need to allow it first.
  4. Go back to Apps and choose Create (it may read Create app).
  5. Fill in the form:
    • Name: Inbox Triage
    • MCP server URL: https://getinboxtriage.com/mcp
    • Authentication: OAuth
  6. Tick I trust this application and choose Create.
  7. A sign-in window opens. Sign in to Inbox Triage and choose Allow. If it says Confirm your email address first, use the link we emailed you, or choose Send a new confirmation link in Settings, then try again.
  8. Start a new chat. If ChatGPT does not use Inbox Triage on its own, click + in the message box, open More, and pick Inbox Triage.

ChatGPT renames these menus from time to time. If a label looks different, look for Developer mode first, then the button that creates an app or connector from a URL.

What you get in ChatGPT

ChatGPT can show the interactive inbox view and the draft card. If it shows text instead, you get numbered lists and can refer to rows by number, like "archive 2 and 5".

More than one Gmail account

How do I send from ChatGPT?

Choose Send on the draft card, or open the approval link ChatGPT gives you and choose Send there. Typing yes in the chat does not send. Sending must be turned on first. See How do I let my AI send email?
