How do I add an inbox?

1. Open Inboxes and scroll to Add an inbox.
2. Enter a Label you will recognize, like "Work Gmail" or "Family iCloud".
3. Enter the Email address. Leave Mail service on Detect from the address unless you know better.
4. Choose Add inbox. The sign-in page opens right away: Google, Microsoft, or our private password form for iCloud and other mail.
5. Finish signing in. You come back to Inboxes and the first sync starts.

If you closed the sign-in page before finishing, the inbox shows Not connected. Choose Connect on it to try again.

What if it says "Confirm your email address first"?

You need a confirmed email address before you can add an inbox. Open the link we emailed you when you signed up, or send a new one from Settings, then add the inbox again.

How does Inbox Triage detect my mail service?

We check the address in this order:

1. Well-known domains. gmail.com and googlemail.com are Google. outlook.com, hotmail.com, live.com, and msn.com are Microsoft. icloud.com, me.com, and mac.com are iCloud. yahoo.com, ymail.com, rocketmail.com, aol.com, aim.com, verizon.net, fastmail.com, and zoho.com addresses get their IMAP server filled in.
2. Your domain's mail records. For any other domain, we look up where its mail is delivered. That tells us if it runs on Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Yahoo, Fastmail, or Zoho.
3. Your domain's own mail server. If none of those match, we look for the domain's published mail settings and test likely server names, the same way mail apps do.

If we find a server, the form fills it in for you to check. If we find nothing, the form asks for the IMAP server. See Connect other email over IMAP.

What if detection gets it wrong?

Pick the service yourself in Mail service. This matters most for custom domains on Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.

How do I add my own domain on iCloud+?

Choose Other (IMAP) in Mail service, not iCloud. The iCloud choice only takes icloud.com, me.com, and mac.com addresses.

1. Set IMAP server to imap.mail.me.com and the port to 993.
2. Set Username to your iCloud Mail address (the one ending in icloud.com, me.com, or mac.com), not the custom address.
3. Choose Add inbox and paste an app-specific password from Apple on the private form. See Connect iCloud Mail for how to make one.

What if my plan is full?

The form is replaced by a way to add room. On the trial, that is the upgrade to Pro. On Pro, you pick how many inboxes to add and see today's charge before you pay. At 10 inboxes, Pro's limit, disconnect or pause one to add another. See Add or remove inboxes from your plan.
