Inbox TriageWhy can't I undo a change?
Undo works once per change and only for 7 days. Find it as the Undo button on
Activity or Today, or ask your AI to undo its last change. After that, move the
message back in your mail app: look in Trash, Spam or Junk, or your archive.
Where is Undo?
- The Undo button next to the change on Activity or Today.
- The Undo link on the inbox page right after you make a change there.
- In chat: say "undo that". Your AI reports an undo for each change it makes.
Archive, trash, spam, snooze, star, and read or unread changes can be undone.
Why does undo fail?

| "That change can no longer be undone" | It is older than 7 days, it was already undone, or 500 or more newer changes have been made since. On the website this also shows when the inbox was removed. |
| "That inbox is no longer connected" (from your AI) | The inbox was removed after the change. |
| "That change could not be undone" or "That message can no longer be found to put back" | The message was moved or deleted in your mail app since. |
Unsubscribe requests and sent emails can never be undone.
How do I put it back by hand?
- Archived: Gmail's All Mail, Outlook's Archive folder, or the Archive folder on iCloud and IMAP.
- Trashed: Trash, or Deleted Items in Outlook.
- Spam: Spam, or Junk.
Why did archive do nothing on iCloud or IMAP?
Archive needs an Archive folder. If your account has none, nothing is moved, and you see "This mailbox has no Archive folder". Create an Archive folder in your mail app, or use Trash instead.
