Can my AI send replies without asking each time?
Yes, if you turn on Send on my behalf in Settings. An AI you pick can then send a reply without asking each time,
but only to people who wrote in that thread and whom you have emailed before, with no Bcc and no new people on Cc.
Each send waits 10 minutes by default so you can cancel it, and everything else still needs your approval.
How do I turn it on?
- Make sure sending is on. See How do I let my AI send email?
- Sign in and open Settings, then Send on my behalf.
- Confirm it is you: enter your password or choose Sign in with Google again. A sign-in in the last 10 minutes also counts. If you have a passkey, you can skip this and save with it at the end.
- Tick Send on my behalf, and tick each AI app or API key that may use it.
- Set Most sends per day (1 to 50, default 10) and Hold before sending (2 to 60 minutes, default 10).
- Optionally add Extra trusted recipients: addresses you have not emailed yet that your AI may reply to. A domain entry such as @example.com trusts everyone there. Public domains like gmail.com do not count.
- Click Save, or Save with passkey.
The Today page shows whether it is on, with a Set up button when it is off.
Which replies can go out on their own?
Every rule must hold:
- It is a reply in an existing thread.
- Everyone on To wrote in that thread.
- There is no Bcc.
- Everyone on Cc was already in the thread.
- You have emailed every recipient before (in mail Inbox Triage has synced), or listed them as trusted.
- No address looks like one you know but is slightly different.
- You are under your daily limit. The count covers the last 24 hours.
- The AI app that asked is one you ticked.
If any rule fails, the email waits for your normal approval instead. Your AI tells you why.
What happens when a reply fits?
- The send is held for your hold time. Your AI tells you it is scheduled, not sent. If you turned on alerts, you get one.
- The approval page shows Sending soon with the time it goes out.
- Until then, click Cancel to stop it (the draft stays in your Drafts folder), Edit to stop the timer and change it before you send it yourself, or Send now.
You can find every held send on Waiting for you.
How do I pause it?
Click Pause now in Settings, or Pause on the Today page. Pausing does not need a password. Any send that is being held then waits for your normal approval instead. Turning sending off also stops it.
