n8n

One email connection for your n8n AI agent

Yes, an n8n workflow can read, sort, and draft in Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, and IMAP inboxes through one connection to Inbox Triage. Point an MCP Client node, or an MCP Client Tool under an AI Agent, at our server and every inbox you connected is reachable.

Updated

Set up the node

  1. Add an MCP Client node for a fixed tool call, or an AI Agent with an MCP Client Tool sub-node to let the model pick.
  2. MCP Endpoint URL: https://getinboxtriage.com/mcp. Server Transport: HTTP Streamable.
  3. Authentication: MCP OAuth2 with dynamic client registration on (n8n 1.119.0 or later), or Bearer Auth with an API key from Settings.
  4. For the MCP Client node, pick the tool show_inbox with {"filter": "needs"} as input.
  5. For an AI Agent, exclude send_draft, confirm_mark_spam, confirm_unsubscribe, set_send_enabled, and start_imap_secret_capture.

Start from the template

Import n8n-inbox-triage.json: in n8n, open Workflows, then Import from URL. It has a Schedule Trigger, an MCP Client node calling show_inbox, and a Set node to swap for Slack or anything else.

Sends still need a person

n8n cannot show an approval prompt, so a connection from n8n is always treated as unattended. send_draft, confirm_mark_spam, and confirm_unsubscribe return an approval link instead of acting. Only the signed-in person's click on that page completes them.

What it costs

The free trial lasts 7 days and includes 3 inboxes. No card needed. Pro is $15/mo for 5 inboxes, plus $2/mo for each extra inbox, up to 10. See pricing

Questions about email in n8n

Can one n8n node reach several inboxes?

Yes. The inbox is picked inside each tool call, so one MCP Client or MCP Client Tool node reaches every inbox you connected.

Does n8n need my Gmail password?

No. n8n only gets an API key or an OAuth token for Inbox Triage. Mail passwords and provider sign-ins stay with Inbox Triage.

Does it work on self-hosted n8n?

Yes. n8n's MCP credential callback path is accepted on any https host you run, and on localhost.

Do I need the AI Agent node?

No. A plain MCP Client node calls one tool with fixed arguments and needs no language model. That is enough for a scheduled check.

HTTP Streamable times out. What now?

Check your n8n version first, since older versions had transport bugs. If it still times out, email us with your n8n version.
